There's no industrial-sized cooking kitchen or a class packed with other students when you learn to cook at El Fenn. Instead you will be guided through traditional ingredients and techniques by our head chef Hafid and cook the menu of your choice.
The class starts with a trip to the Mellah market in the old Jewish quarter of Marrakech. Here locals congregate to choose the best of the day's meat, fish and vegetables and you'll be able to shop alongside them.
Pick up some spices before coming back to the riad where you'll cook in the El Fenn kitchen alongside our chefs. You might want to learn how to cook cous cous, tagine or tangia – meat slow cooked in the embers of the clay pot in the fire pit of the local hammam. The hotel's patisserie chef is also on hand if you want to learn to recreate his memorable desserts.
Marrakech is also the perfect base from which to explore the Atlas Mountains and Ourika Valley. Here you can do everything from hiking to horse or camel riding. Alternatively, you can visit a Berber market or take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise before having breakfast in a local village. There’s also the beautiful Lalla Takerkoust lake or the arid Agafay Hills where you can experience an arresting desert experience. Alternatively we can arrange activities including quad biking, belly dancing classes and cycling trips.
