Opulence, creativity and global travel combine in a new jewellery collection that has launched exclusively at El Fenn.

MARISA BERENSON GLOBAL is the work of the model and actress once proclaimed as “The face of the 70s” by Yves Saint Laurent and on Newsweek’s cover as “Queen of The Scene”.

The collection’s bohemian luxury aesthetic embodies the layers of Marisa’s rich life.

Her modelling career, which began in the 1960s, saw her appear on the covers of some of the world’s most famous fashion and lifestyle magazines – including Vogue, Time, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. She then moved into acting and appeared in films including  Luchino Visconti’s “Death in Venice”, Bob Fosse’s “Cabaret” and  Stanley Kubrick’s “Barry Lyndon”.

Marisa created her new collection using vintage pieces curated on her travels through Morocco, India and Nepal. She also designed new pieces by reworking vintage elements such as amber and turquoise into earrings, bracelets and necklaces that were handcrafted by master artisans in Marrakesh.

“Marisa is a true citizen of the world, and has spent her life collecting talismen, curiosities, and semi-precious stones,” says El Fenn co-owner Madeline Weinrib. “She puts them together in her jewellery with her own personal style; it’s gorgeous, and very glamorous. We can’t wait to share them.”

If we had to use one word to sum up the collection it would be: abundant.

Natural, uncut stones such as amethyst, onyx, cornaline, jade, lapis and coral are densely, and generously, assembled in these one-of-a-kind pieces. They’re interwoven with everything from crystals that infuse spiritual energy, to more light-hearted elements such as tassels and pompoms.

Together, the collection embodies two very distinct aspects of Marisa’s life.

On one hand, it has spanned some of the twentieth century’s most cultural moments that saw her at the epicentre of the glamorous worlds of Andy Warhol, Halston and Yves Saint Laurent.  On the other, her ongoing spiritual quest which started in India at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi — the birthplace of transcendental meditation — where she met the Beatles. It embedded a lifelong love of meditation, reflection and holistic living that Marisa embraced years before today’s popular trends. Her daily practices include mental, physical and spiritual enrichment, organic food, yoga and meditation.
