With work featured everywhere from Vogue to Elle Decor, Noz is known for interiors that layer colour, pattern and texture which means Morocco is a dream destination for her. And we’ve designed this retreat to allow you to tap straight into the city’s most exciting modern makers, as well as the rich artisanal traditions of Morocco.
We’ll be opening up our little black book of the best design addresses in Marrakech so expect everything from vintage, lighting and textiles, to expert craftsmanship as we take you behind the scenes of Marrakech’s dynamic interiors scene.
Our aim is to give you access to places and spaces that most visitors never see. And the best bit? You’ll learn, get inspired and make friendships for life as you take time out for yourself to tap into your passion for interiors with a small group of likeminded people.
‘The art of interior design is about layering different styles and pieces from different eras to create complete rooms that feel like they were started a long time ago and are, perhaps, still in-progress,’ says Noz. ‘And Morocco embodies this with its unique combination of age-old traditions and modern creative energy. The Discover Moroccan Design retreat runs Monday 10th to Friday 14th November. Prices start at $5363 for a small room and include all meals, pre-dinner cocktails and wine with dinner, trips out & transport plus airport transfers. Here are all the details.
YOUR RETREAT ITINERARY
Day 1
El Fenn’s interiors have been featured everywhere from Architectural Digest to Vogue. Check in to one of our gorgeous rooms at your leisure before gathering for lunch on our beautiful roof top. In the afternoon, you’ll go on a tour of El Fenn, discover some of our most stunning interiors and more about our art collection. After sunset cocktails on the rooftop, dinner that night will be a Moroccan sharing feast and you’ll start getting to know each other over some great food and wine.
Day 2
Plunge into the mesmerising energy of Marrakech medina on a tour of Ben Youssef Medersa – a centuries-old former Koranic school that’s home to one of the city’s most dazzling displays of Arabic design – before heading into the souk to see artisans working in everything from wood to leather. Lunch will be at Dada, one of the city’s most exciting art and eating spaces, and then we’ll take you to meet one of our favourite rug dealers who’ll talk you through the key styles before a visit to one of the city’s most renowned interiors shops – a treasure trove of rooms packed with lanterns, furniture, rugs and accessories. Dinner that night is at Villa Aaron, a restaurant housed in a traditional riad with gorgeous interiors.
Day 3
Breakfast on our rooftop with a view of the Atlas Mountains will be followed by a trip to Sidi Ghanem, a former industrial area which is now buzzing with large ateliers where Marrakech’s most exciting modern makers work. Think rugs, lighting, pottery and art that interpret Morocco’s heritage through a modern lens. Dinner that night will be at one of our favourite restaurants where you’ll eat in a jewel coloured dining room before shimmying belly and candle dancers get the party started.
Day 4
Morocco is all about ancient rhythms and no trip here is complete without having a hammam. You’ll visit a beautiful traditional bath house where your skin will be exfoliated with black soap and clay in a tadelakt-lined steam room for the ultimate in relaxation. After lunch in the sunshine on El Fenn’s roof terrace, you’ll be taken on a tour of one of Marrakech’s most stunning private homes. We won’t reveal whose it is yet. Let’s just say she’s design royalty. The day will end with a gala dinner at El Fenn. Think candlelight, roses and skies dripping with stars.
Day 5
Soak up the blue skies over breakfast before a final word from Noz. What have you loved the most? What’s got you inspired? And how will you take what you’ve learned back home? Then it’s time to head off for your flight. Or stay on for another couple of nights at El Fenn.

Booking will open via email at 10am (Morocco/UK time) on Wednesday 21st May. ABOUT NOZ
Noz Nozawa is the founder and principal of Noz Design, an interior design firm based in San Francisco with projects across the US. Her work is known for its artful, highly personal spaces that joyfully employ color and layered styles. Noz has been celebrated as a “rising star” by Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Sunset Magazine, and Luxe Gold List. In addition to her residential practice, Noz has won acclaim for her retail and hospitality projects. Known for her effervescent way of sharing the “why” behind design, Noz is a regular on AD’s popular “Space Savers” YouTube series.
ABOUT EL FENN
El Fenn opened in 2004 and has captured the imagination of a generation of travellers ever since with its trademark design: one part bohemian, another luxury, always a celebration of Moroccan craftsmanship. ACCOMMODATION
All our rooms feature our signature blend of traditional Moroccan artisanal decoration meets a mix of vintage and contemporary furniture and art from the El Fenn private collection. Colour-soaked and playful, each one is unique. You’ll also have access to our three swimming pools and gorgeous spa if you want to book some extra treatments.

Absolutely! If you want to arrive the day before the retreat starts – or stay on for a night or two afterwards to explore Marrakech a bit more then we’ll be offering retreat attendees a 15% discount on our best rates.
Gorgeous. The average temperature in November is 74F (23C) so think blue skies and sunshine by day. There is an outside chance of rain though so bear that in mind. It’s also wise to layer up because the nights at this time of year are cooler and even during the day you’ll be moving between the heat of the sun to cooler inside spaces.
Bring comfortable clothes to wear in the day because you’ll be doing some walking. And then for evening it’s all about a bit of glitz and glamour. Bring a warm layer to add over your outfit because you might walk to the restaurant or sit on a roof terrace.
Not much. The interior design retreat is pretty action packed because there’s so much we want to show you. Each day though, we’ve factored in 1.5-2 hours of downtime so that you can rest, have a hammam or just relax.
You can cancel anytime up to 8 weeks before the start date of the retreat to receive a refund of your deposit minus 5% administration fee.
