Top 5 Places to Eat Vegetarian in Marrakech

Eating vegetarian can sometimes be difficult when you’re travelling – but the good news is that it’s fairly easy to do in Marrakech. Traditional Moroccan meals start with a range of mostly vegetarian salads for instance, and most restaurants usually have a vegetable tagine on the menu. But if you want to change things up, here’s our pick for our favourite places to eat vegetarian food in Marrakech.

La Famille

Located about five minutes from Djemaa el Fna on Riad Zitoun Jedid, La Famille has been serving delicious vegetarian food since 2015. The pretty courtyard restaurant is shaded by lemon trees and a team of female chefs prepare a daily-changing roster of everything from freshly made dips and homemade crackers to salads, pastas and focaccia pizzas. Their loaded flatbreads are a favourite of ours. There’s also a cute little shop where you can pick up a copy of their cookbook.

Farmer’s

Located in Gueliz, Farmer’s is perfect for dinner – and a cocktail or two. All their produce is grown on a permaculture farm on the outskirts of Marrakech and the result is a menu bursting with seasonal flavours. Summer ‘25 includes dishes such as tomato and fig, grilled baby gem lettuce with green goddess dressing, capers and parmesan and pappadelle with confit leeks and braised shitake.

MÖMÖ

Newly opened with two terraces that have bird’s eye views of Djemaa el Fna, MÖMÖ’s menu contains lots of plant-based options such as pumpkin houmous, beetroot and feta carpaccio and cauliflower risotto. The interiors are just as good as the food and the gorgeous dining room is a colour-filled hit of the ultimate in dopamine decoration.

Yazel

Just along the street from the Jardin Secret, Yazel’s menu channels Middle Eastern flavours and you can eat inside or on a pretty terrace perched high above Rue Mouassine. The mezze is a highlight – think different flavours of fresh houmous, falafel and feta spring rolls – or tuck into their falafel pitta with aubergine, courgette and coriander.

Naranj

Another restaurant channeling Middle Eastern flavours, Naranj offers dishes including a mezze sharing plate featuring everything from falafel and muhammara (a roasted red pepper and nut dip) to baba ghanoush and stuffed vine leaves. Main courses include an aubergine and bulgar wheat ‘lasagne’ and lentil stew. You’ll find it on Riad Zitoun Jedid.
