TOP 5 WAYS TO EAT AL FRESCO IN MARRAKECH
One of life’s greatest joys? Eating in the sunshine – even on a winter day. Marrakech is filled with everything from city roof terraces to countryside restaurants set amidst stunning gardens. Here are some of our favourites.
LUNCH IN THE PALMERAIE

Set in three hectares of lush Andalusian gardens in the Palmeraie, Les Deux Tours is an oasis of calm. Lunch is served poolside at La Pergola where the menu is filled with dishes made from vegetables grown in the hotel’s organic garden. Lounge by the stunning pool before and after, or ask them to prepare a picnic and find your own corner of paradise in the sprawling grounds.
LUNCH IN THE MEDINA

If you’re in the medina and want to get inspired, MoMo is a masterclass in colour, pattern and modern maximalism. It’s got two terraces with bird’s eye views of Djemaa el Fna. Or, get a side of culture with your meal at DaDa which has a cantina, terrace restaurant and bar, as well as an exciting contemporary art gallery, bookshop and concert space. Its inspiring interiors merge traditional artisanal work with a modern spin.
LUNCH IN THE COUNTRY

Built on an old olive grove, the vibe at Berber Lodge is laid back chic. The drive there will take you through the countryside outside Marrakech and lunch is served in the garden. Or head to Beldi Country Club where you eat beside a beautiful pool surrounded by olive trees. Lounge on a bed before, and after, lunch with a bottle of rose. Or two.
LUNCH WITH A VIEW

Bab Ourika is about an hour’s drive from Marrakech through the beautiful Ourika Valley and perched on the cusp of a hill with a 360 degree view of the Atlas Mountains. Or we can arrange an Atlas Mountains experience for you. You can hike, or ride on horses or donkeys, before experiencing Morocco’s legendary hospitality with a meal cooked by a local family.
LUNCH WITH SOUL

Women are the powerhouses of truly authentic Moroccan food and eating in the garden at Amal cafe is a great way to support them. This wonderful non-profit trains disadvantaged women for jobs in the catering industry. The cafe at their headquarters serves food all week but on Fridays the women prepare a delicious couscous that’s served on platters in the pretty garden. It’s always packed.
