Marrakech Music Festivals – Autumn 2024
Morocco as a dance music destination? Absolutely. And this autumn, you have three big events to look forward to here in Marrakech.
Music is at the heart of Moroccan culture with Essaouira, Fez, Rabat and Casablanca all hosting big festivals featuring everything from gnaoua and sacred music to jazz and pop.
But now Marrakech is staking its claim as the dance music heart of Morocco. And this September, massive acts will bring the party to crowds under desert star skies. Here’s our pick of what’s coming up.
OASISFEST
Dance titan Laurent Garnier is headlining this year’s Oasis alongside Jungle and Jyoty. And we are here for it. After two editions out on the road – Dahkla in 2022 and last year at the Atlas Studios in Ouazarzate – Oasis is returning home to Marrakech. The festival, which started life here in 2015, has grown to be about more than just music. Pop-up dining experiences, cutting-edge art and culture collaborations with North Africa’s most exciting creators and tastemakers are all part of the Oasis experience. It runs 6th-8th September.
LOST NOMADS
This is a one-night only event. But with deep house royalty Solomun headlining against a dramatic desert setting, it’s sure to be a night to remember. The first edition of Lost Nomads when Black Coffee took centre stage was a huge success. Logistics for the last last edition were hit and miss. But now it’s back, lessons must surely have been learned and Solomun will a massive draw. All this plus the unique setting of the Agafay Desert which is just 30 minutes from Marrakech. Think dancing underneath a starry sky against a backdrop of stone-covered hills and plains. Lost Nomads is on 6th September.

SARAB FESTIVAL
It’s the first edition of the Sarab Festival and expectations are high. Martin Solveig, Hugel and Mr Belt & Wezol will play alongside a roster of international artists in the Agafay Desert on 27th & 28th September. There’ll be three stages and 42 DJs plus performance artists, pyrotechnics and art installations. So book a room with us and party all night long before returning to El Fenn for a shower and some sleep, or sunshine on the terrace. Then recharge with a cocktail before heading back to the desert for another night to remember.
