What’s on in Marrakech this Winter 25/26
In the mood for some contemporary art? If so, there’s an exciting crop of new exhibitions to enjoy in Marrakech this autumn.
Galleries all over the city have installed new work by their pick of upcoming, as well as established, talent and we can’t wait to explore them.
MCC, one of our favourite galleries, is showing two new exhibitions this autumn. In ‘Gap of Possibilities’, Amine Asselman, fuses his love of physics, mathematics and architecture to create installations created from brass and terracotta. The artist, who lives and works in Tetouan, uses art and science to explore ideas around sacred geometry.

MCC is also showing ‘The House Where Trees Dream’ by interdisciplinary Spanish artist Rita G Rivera. Ceramic pieces examining how everyday objects embody far more than their practical purpose will be on show alongside photographs of the mountainous landscapes around her home in northern Morocco’s Rif mountains which inspire her.
Both exhibitions are running until January 2026.

Across the road from MCC in Sidi Ghanem is Hassan Hajjaj’s Moroccan Cafe and Gallery, JAJJAH. Opening 1st November, in collaboration with Atay Atelier, the new exhibition ‘Cross Lens’ brings together 8 emerging artists, 4 from Morocco and 4 from the Netherlands. Each explores the theme of cultural identity through their unique lens.

Catharsis Exhibition at DaDa Gallery
Over in Djemaa el Fna, one of the city’s most innovative spaces has also got new work on show. DaDa is housed in a former bus station and, as well as the gallery, there’s also a bookshop, concert space, cantina, restaurant and bar so it’s well worth a visit. A new exhibition called ‘Catharsis’ has been curated by Margarida Mendes and brings together work by artists examining political and environmental themes around water. It will run until December 21st, open daily from 11 am to 7 pm with mediators on site Tuesday to Friday, 11 am to 5 pm

From the contemporary to the classical, we travel next into the heart of Marrakech’s historical medina to visit Dar Al Bacha, Museum of Confluences housed in the former palace of Thami El Glaoui. Built in 1910, Dar El Bacha is a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture, blending traditional craftsmanship with European design influences. Art expert and philanthropist Patti Cadby Birch had a vision of establishing a museum dedicated to ancient world cultures and gifted her collection to the Kingdom of Morocco. The collection of universal objects and artifacts currently on display in The Patti Birch Room in the heart of the Musée des Confluences Dar El Bacha, pays tribute to Patti’s commitment to
art, education, cultural preservation, and the bridging of cultures.
Here at El Fenn, we’re also showing work by Ali Maimoun until the end of November. One of the figureheads of Essaouira’s celebrated art movement, Maimoun explores traditional heritage, customs and rituals through a skilful use of colour. His large canvases, which we’re showing in partnership with Galerie SINIYA28, use sawdust and acrylic to create an almost sculptural feel.
From mid-December, we’ll be showing new work by renowned Moroccan artist Rita Alaoui.

And don’t forget that one of the city’s most exciting art events returns to Marrakech in February next year. 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair brings together artists, gallerists and collectors from all over the world with a main exhibition, as well as satellite projects.
It will be open to the public 7-8th February 2026 so take the opportunity to get some winter sun, El Fenn deco inspiration and art in one weekend.
