Marrakech has long been a favourite for vintage lovers thanks to the country’s rich decorative traditions, hotels packed with design and an influx of overseas residents who brought their style with them. Here are our top 5 picks.

Kader Oudania – Sidi Ghanem
Electrician turned designer Oudania hand makes his lighting using traditional tools and 1950s machinery. He repurposes elements of vintage lights to create new lamps, ceiling pendants and wall lights but will also work to commission.
Atelier Balagan – Sidi Ghanem
Atelier Balagan has a great edit of mid-century modern and Seventies pieces including lighting, furniture and accessories. On a recent visit, they had everything from Sputnik chandelier to a classic pinball machine.
Ouarzazi Souk
This section of the souk is in an old foundouk – a building once used by travelling merchants who stabled their horses on the ground floor and slept upstairs. Today it’s home to shops selling everything from jewellery to clothes but there’s also a handful of great vintage places. You’ll find it just off Bab Fteuh behind Cafe Argana on the main square. And on past visits we’ve found everything from gorgeous old tin boxes to painted water pots.
