TOP 5 HOMEWARE DESIGNERS AND STORES IN MARRAKECH
If you love Moroccan home style then tapping into the brightest and best makers and curators in Marrakech is a must. Here are our favourite places for homeware.
ATERIO HOME
Mona Boubekeur was well acquainted with the world of bespoke luxury during her career in London at the award-winning interior architecture and design firm Argent Design. After moving back to Morocco, she then used this eye for detail and unique pieces to create her own homeware line. Aterio’s gorgeous accessories and furniture are handmade from resin with a signature mix of anything from mother of pearl to brass. They’re the ultimate in colorful dopamine design.

WE ARE ROXAS
Ruthie Orlan spent many years designing jewellery for massive names like ASOS and Finery before realising she’d lost touch with the kind of hand-making she’d loved in the early days of her career. A chance meeting with Anas, a Marrakchi potter, led to the two experimenting on pieces together and We Are Roxas was born. Together the pair create one-off vases, candlesticks, oversize totems and tableware. But they all have one thing in common: vivid colour as well as uplifting and witty words and slogans. If you want to inject fun into your interior, this is where to find it.

MUSTAPHA BLAOUI
Mustapha is a Marrakech institution and everyone from the Clintons to Paloma Picasso
has taken tea with him at his Aladdin’s Cave of a showroom over the past 40 years. Enter his showroom via its lantern-filled main room before wandering through connecting riads whose rooms are artfully styled with Moroccan textiles, art, lighting and design – plus pieces from anywhere from India to Senegal. If you have a house to fill, this is the place to do it.

ANA K
Alexanne Chapon grew up in Casablanca before moving abroad to study in France and work as a journalist. But after returning to Morocco, she decided to switch gears, inspired by the artisans she’d known all her life. Today her Ana K label has a fashion element (think colour-soaked and playful shirts in cotton and linen) as well as lighting for the home. The lighting is made in both rattan and metal and her signature palm lamps come in a range of sizes, all inspired by the iconic trees of Marrakech.

SOME SLOW CONCEPT
If you’re shopping in Gueliz then make sure to drop into the pretty art deco villa that’s home to Some Slow Concept. It’s filled with a range of customizable accessories and furniture in the colours and materials you select. We love their pieces for the garden. The small in-house cafe also serves a really authentic, local kind of lunch.
